How to add Water Eject to Shortcuts

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and tap +

    Shortcuts comes with every iPhone. If you deleted it, download it again from the App Store for free.

  2. Add "Set Volume" at 100%

    Tap Add Action, search for Set Volume and set it to 100%. The tone works best at full volume.

  3. Add "Open URLs"

    Search for Open URLs and type waterejectphone.com as the address. The shortcut now opens this tool in Safari.

  4. Name it "Water Eject"

    Tap the name at the top and call it Water Eject. Siri uses this name as the voice command. Tap Done.

  5. Run it

    Say "Hey Siri, Water Eject", or tap the shortcut. When the page opens, press Eject water. To put it on your Home Screen, touch and hold the shortcut, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

This shortcut uses only Apple's own actions, so you don't need to install anything from a third-party link. Searching for a "water Siri eject shortcut" leads to the same idea: a shortcut you start with your voice that plays a low tone.

What about the user-made Water Eject shortcut?

The well-known "Water Eject" shortcut was made by a user, not by Apple. You add it from an iCloud link, and it plays a low tone through your speaker, much like Quick mode here.

It works, but a shortcut can include any action, so only add one from a source you trust and look at its actions before you run it. The version above is easy to check because it has just two actions.

Is there a water mode on iPhone?

No. The iPhone has no built-in water mode or water eject button. When people say "water mode", they usually mean one of these:

  • Apple Watch Water Lock: it locks the screen while you swim. When you turn it off, the watch plays a tone to push water out of its speaker.
  • Galaxy Watch Water lock mode: Samsung's version for its watches. It turns off touch while you are in the water.
  • Underwater camera modes: some phones have them, but they are only for photos and don't clear water.

Why does Siri not find my Water Eject shortcut?

Check that the name is exactly "Water Eject" and that Siri is on in Settings. Names with extra spaces or emoji can confuse Siri.

Does the shortcut work in silent mode?

The shortcut raises the media volume, but silent mode can still mute sound in the browser on some iOS versions. Turn silent mode off before you press play.

Can I use the shortcut from the Lock Screen?

Yes, with Siri. Safari opens after you unlock the iPhone with Face ID or your passcode.

Is the shortcut safe?

Yes. It only changes the volume and opens a web page. You can see both actions in the Shortcuts app, and nothing runs in the background.
